Dr. Lauren Watkins
Bio
Dr. Lauren Watkins is an environmental psychologist who specializes in how people interact with and connect with natural resources. By understanding these connections, she helps organizations and communities address today’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Lauren provides consulting services to solve these problems by focusing on three key areas:
-
Co-creating solutions and behavior change initiatives alongside communities - rather than for them – to empower local voices and drive sustainable outcomes.
-
Using ethical, rigorous, and empathetic social science research methods to deeply understand people and the challenges they face in their unique environments.
-
Creating powerful messages and strategies that meet people where they are through the channels and platforms they trust.
With more than 15 years of experience, Lauren helps clients manage and understand environmental conflicts, develop effective messaging, and design strategies that ensure everyone has an equitable role in creating a thriving, sustainable future. She combines her environmental science and natural resource management expertise with her well-known behavioral science skills to craft impactful, research-driven solutions.
Lauren has worked extensively across the U.S. and internationally on issues including forestry, livelihoods, sustainable agriculture, climate change communication, wildlife trafficking, and human-wildlife conflict.
